1. Introduction

Swipe a Need is an online crowdfunding platform that connects individuals seeking financial assistance for bills and everyday necessities with supporters who voluntarily contribute to their requests.

We want supporters to understand when contributions may be canceled or refunded, how payment disputes are handled, and what happens when a recipient cannot receive funds.

This Refund & Cancellation Policy applies to contributions and optional platform tips made through Swipe a Need.

This policy does not replace any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection laws, payment network rules, or other legal requirements.

This is the authoritative statement of when contributions and optional tips may be refunded or canceled. Where another page of this website summarizes refunds, this policy controls.

2. Voluntary contributions

Contributions made through Swipe a Need are voluntary financial gifts intended to assist individuals with their stated needs.

Contributions are not purchases of goods or services, investments, loans, or payments that guarantee a particular outcome.

Contributions to individual recipients are generally not tax-deductible charitable donations.

Swipe a Need is not a charitable organization, and contributions do not establish ownership or repayment rights.

Supporters should review the recipient’s request, funding information, and contribution amount before confirming payment.

3. When a contribution is charged

Browsing requests, viewing stories, swiping through requests, and adding requests to the Giving Basket do not result in a charge.

A supporter is charged only after completing the payment checkout process and authorizing the transaction.

Supporters may remove requests from their Giving Basket or change contribution amounts before payment confirmation.

Once payment is confirmed, cancellation or refund eligibility is governed by the provisions below.

4. Refund eligibility

Swipe a Need will review refund requests individually.

A refund may be available in circumstances including:

  • Duplicate or accidental charges.
  • Incorrect contribution amounts resulting from a technical or processing error.
  • Unauthorized or fraudulent transactions.
  • Contributions associated with requests determined to involve material misrepresentation, fraud, or prohibited activity.
  • Payments that cannot be completed or funds that cannot lawfully or operationally be disbursed, including when a recipient does not complete required verification.
  • Other circumstances where a refund is required by law, payment network rules, or applicable payment-provider requirements.

Refunds are not automatically guaranteed simply because a supporter changes their mind after completing an authorized contribution.

Refund eligibility may depend on the transaction’s status, whether funds have been disbursed, applicable law, and the payment provider’s rules.

5. Requesting a refund

To request a refund, contact: support@swipeaneed.com

Include:

  • The email address associated with your contribution.
  • The contribution date and amount.
  • The recipient or request involved, if known.
  • The reason for requesting a refund.
  • A transaction reference, if available.

Do not send full payment card numbers, passwords, identity documents, or other sensitive financial information by email.

We may ask you for additional information to verify the transaction and assess the request.

We will review the request and communicate the outcome or any additional steps required.

6. Refunds before recipient payout

If a contribution has been successfully processed but has not yet been disbursed to the recipient, a refund may be possible, subject to payment-provider capabilities and applicable restrictions.

If a recipient fails required verification and contributions cannot be disbursed, Swipe a Need will arrange refunds of the affected contributions, subject to applicable law and payment-provider capabilities. Refunds in this situation are not automatic: each case is handled by our team, and we do not promise automatic refunds.

Swipe a Need may also cancel or refund a contribution before payout if a request violates platform rules or the payment cannot be completed.

A contribution being held for review does not necessarily mean that it is refundable on demand.

7. Refunds after recipient payout

Once funds have been disbursed to a recipient, recovering them may be difficult or impossible.

Swipe a Need cannot guarantee a refund after a completed recipient payout.

We may investigate reported fraud, misrepresentation, or misuse and take other appropriate action where permitted, but we do not promise that funds already paid out can be recovered.

Nothing in this section limits refund, chargeback, or other rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

8. Campaigns that do not reach their goals

Reaching the displayed funding goal is not a condition for receiving eligible contributions.

A request that does not reach its funding goal does not automatically trigger refunds.

9. Canceled, removed or ineligible requests

Swipe a Need may remove, suspend, or restrict requests that violate platform policies, fail required verification, or present suspected fraud or safety concerns.

Funds not yet disbursed. If a request is withdrawn, removed, canceled or becomes ineligible before funds are disbursed, affected contributions will be reviewed for refund or other legally permissible resolution. Refunds in these cases are not automatic.

Funds already paid out. If funds have already been paid out to the recipient, we cannot promise a refund or the recovery of those funds. Refunds and recovery may be limited or unavailable.

We will not automatically redirect a supporter’s contribution to another recipient without appropriate authorization.

10. Optional platform tips

Supporters may choose to leave an optional tip to support Swipe a Need’s operation.

Tips are separate from the contribution intended for a recipient.

The amount of any optional tip must be disclosed before payment confirmation.

A supporter may adjust or remove an optional tip before completing checkout.

If a contribution is fully refunded, its associated optional tip will also be refunded, subject to applicable legal and payment-provider requirements. If a contribution is only partly refunded, we will review how the associated tip is treated.

Any nonrefundable treatment of optional tips must be clearly disclosed at checkout and must comply with applicable law.

11. Processing fees

Payment processors may charge transaction processing fees.

Under our current model, supporters are not charged a separate payment-processing fee. Applicable processing costs are borne by recipients, and the amounts will be disclosed before the relevant transactions.

Any change to this model that would charge supporters a fee must be disclosed before payment confirmation.

If a refund is issued, the amount returned and treatment of any processing fees will be determined by the applicable transaction terms, payment-provider rules, and law.

Swipe a Need will not impose undisclosed refund fees.

12. Refund processing

Approved refunds will generally be sent to the original payment method when supported by the payment provider.

The time required for a refund to appear depends on the payment processor, payment method, and financial institution.

Swipe a Need cannot guarantee a specific bank posting date.

If the original payment method is unavailable, any alternative resolution must comply with applicable law and payment-provider requirements.

13. Unauthorized transactions and payment disputes

If you believe a transaction was unauthorized, contact your bank or card issuer promptly and notify Swipe a Need at support@swipeaneed.com.

You may have rights to dispute a transaction directly with your payment provider or financial institution.

Swipe a Need may investigate reported unauthorized transactions, suspected fraud, or payment disputes and provide relevant transaction information to payment processors or financial institutions as permitted by law.

Nothing in this policy prevents you from exercising applicable chargeback or consumer protection rights.

14. Recipient misrepresentation and fraud

Swipe a Need may review supporting documents for documented bills and apply identity and payout verification requirements to recipients.

Requests for everyday needs, such as groceries, transportation, diapers, or household essentials, may be based on information self-reported by recipients.

Identity verification does not independently establish that a recipient’s stated financial need is genuine or that funds will be used exactly as described.

Supporters should understand that financial assistance involves inherent risk.

If you suspect fraud or material misrepresentation, contact support@swipeaneed.com with relevant details.

We may investigate, suspend requests, restrict accounts, or coordinate with payment providers and appropriate authorities where warranted.

15. Payment processing and platform availability

Swipe a Need’s ability to accept contributions, process refunds, and disburse funds depends on approved payment services and operational availability.

Payment functionality may be unavailable, restricted, or suspended while required payment-provider approvals, verification processes, or technical integrations are incomplete.

This policy does not mean that payments or recipient payouts are currently active.

No contribution should be collected unless the applicable payment functionality has been lawfully enabled and the relevant terms are presented to supporters.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this Refund & Cancellation Policy to reflect changes in our services, payment processing arrangements, legal requirements, or operational practices.

The updated policy will be published on our website with a revised effective date.

Changes will not retroactively remove rights that apply to transactions completed under earlier terms or applicable law.
